As she pushes authorities to keep looking, she learns that in Prohibition-era LA, women don't challenge the system and live to tell their story. Slandered as delusional and unfit, Christine finds an ally in activist Reverend Briegleb (John Malkovich), who helps her fight the city to look for her missing boy. Based on the actual incident that rocked California's legal system, Changeling tells the shocking tale of a mother's quest to find her son, and those who won't stop until they silence her.

Changeling
Los Angeles, 1928: On a Saturday morning in a working-class suburb, Christine Collins (Angelina Jolie) said goodbye to her son, Walter (Gattlin Griffith), and left for work. When she came home, she discovered he had vanished. A fruitless search ensues, and months later, a boy claiming to be the 9-year-old is returned. Dazed by the swirl of cops, reporters and her conflicted emotions, Christine allows him to stay overnight. But in her heart, she knows he is not Walter.

I wanted to see this film from a long time ago. Sometimes when you want to see a film when you finally see it, it disappoints you. But in this case I've really like it. I've like the plot, the interpretations and the niceness with which they approach the most painful issues.
ResponderEliminarIn conclusion I've liked it and maybe the only thing that I didn't really like is that the begginig of the film was slow.
I like the way the film shows how the Police was overpowered on those days long time ago, making people do whatever they wanted they wanted them to do, and making them think that the Police is always right and people are wrong, as shown in the film.
ResponderEliminarAlso, the part when the corpses of the children are discovered and the end of the film when one of the children is found, is stunning.
One of the best films I've ever seen in a long.
Well I already watched the film but I didn't mind to watch it again, in fact I've realized I like it even more now.
ResponderEliminarI find it a very interesting story, it mixes sorrow and hope till the very end. Also the acting, it wasn't that forced.
To sum up I did really enjoyed watching this film.
When I knew we were going to watch this film, I thought I wouldn't like it since I don't really enjoy dramas, but after the first class, I just wanted to watch more, I was very excited and I wanted to know what was going to happen next.
ResponderEliminarI believe it's a very moving story and quite shocking as well, it is hard to see how the protagonist (Angelina Jolie) does everything she can to find her son.
I enjoyed a lot while watching it and I would definitely recommend it and watch it again.
When I knew that this film was based in a historic success that occur in the first years of XX century, I thought that how can be people in these years.
ResponderEliminarIn general, this film impacted me because the main character had lost her children. She did the maximum as possible when finally the police said that they found her son. She was very happy and she went to the train station to pick up her son, but she saw that this guy had not her children. I think that it is not an error of the police; I think that they did that because they couldn’t found him, so they took another child because they wanted to be like heroes and the people could believe in police’s work. Finally, she took that guy to her house but she wanted to found her real son. She did the maximum as possible again but the police didn’t want problems so they said that she was mad and they sent her to a mental hospital until she finally said that this child was hers. I think that if Angelina Jolie was a man this didn’t occur because in the 20th there was sexism and she haven’t got any man help because she was an unmarried mother, but she wanted her son back because is the only person that she had.
I think that this film show us how can a mother fight for her son. Incredible how can do one person who loves other one. Incredible film. ;)
When I heard that we were going to see this film I just didn't mind because I thought that it was going to be the traditional film with an old argument, which I don't really like in general.
ResponderEliminarAs it began, I was more interested because it had a bit of mistery, which I like, but also a lot of drama, which normally I can't stand.
My opinion has changed radically when I have finished watching the film because I really like it, it shows you the corruption the police had in those days, they could do almost everything they want, and it also shows you what a mother can do looking for his son.
To sum up, I have to say that I recommend this film to anyone, even if they don't like this type of films, like me, but they will finally love it.
This film talks about what a mother can do when she is looking for her son. In this case, Christine Collins, does everything that is on her hands to recuperate her son, Walter Collins. She logins to an asylum by the corrupt police, as she was complaining a lot to the police because she knew the boy they had taken to her was not her son, and the boss of the asylum let her go if she signs a document recognising that this was really her son.
ResponderEliminarFinally, the film shows you that you can get whatever you want if you make an effort.
Another point of the film is the corruption the police used to have in those days, they just do things that suit them or suit their bosses, they did not work for justice as they supposed to work. Also the police convinced a boy to lie and say it was really his mother and lie about everything he was asked about.
In a little town of Los Angeles, Christine dismissed her son Walter, and she went to work.
ResponderEliminarWhen she arrived, her son wasnn't at home, he was dissapeared, so she started trying to find him. She was some many months talking with the police and the State. Finally they said that they've found her boy, but that boy wasn't her. She didn't care to live with him, but she continued reclaming her real son. The police said that she was crazy, sot she came into a psyquiatric centre. Later, she found the help of a man who was helping her to find Walter.
This film shows us how much can fight a mother to find her son, against everything and everyone who is in opposing to her. Also it shows the corruption in some countries and people who try to fight and finish it.
The Changeling
ResponderEliminarIt's a hard thriller starred by Angelina Jolie that is about the corruption in L.A police. All her world changes when her boy disappears. On her own, she tries to find what happened and where is him, but no one seemed to have an answer. Some moths later, they find a boy who claims to be her son, but she knows from that moment, in the train station where he is given to her, that he's not her son. She tries to talk with the police, but they make her think that she's in denial because she's a bad mother. Although everything is against her (single mother in that times), she keeps fighting. A man from the church tries to help her.
The police, seeing that she's a threat, take her to a mental assylum. There she is tortured, fisically and psychically. But her strengh is bigger that it, and so is her hope, so she doesn't give up. A boy suddenly appears and he says that he has commited some crimes with his cousin. He's scared because he thinks he's also going to die. The catch the murderer and send him to prison. There he's punished to dead penalty. She goes to her daily rutine, but she keeps her hopes up, because a boy appeared saying that her son may have scaped and that he could be anywhere.
In my opinion, it's a really hard film. The story goes behond the screen, because it's based in a real story, and I think that those problems harmed a lot of people. Corruption has been always a problem. Maybe right now is not that way, but still some goverments take the money from the people, and even some town councils. Selfishness never dies, and neither does pride. Harming your pride and reputation is bad when you are an important person, and I think that's what happens on the film. The police chief is very important and it's all his fault. He wanted to solve the case and become important, but he couldn't, so he tried to find a solution which wasn't good.
It's also striking to see the power that the police staff had just to be part of the police. They were the ones that said who had to enter the mental assylum, and almost none of them were really insane. Furthermore, the cruelty of people to those poor women. They were abused and no one talked. They were taken to electro-shock if they even talked. Those scenes make me wonder about all the cases of abused women all over the history.
The film had everything good: good script, good actress, and good director. What else can I ask for?
